BERITA RAKYAT – Tim Yamaha mendatangkan ahli elektronik bernama Michele Gadda untuk menyelesaikan masalah pada motor YZR-M1 2018 yang digunakan Valentino Rossi.
Masalah elektronik telah membelit Yamaha cukup lama dan membuat tim asal Iwata, Jepang, itu kesulitan bersaing di papan atas.
Pebalap tim Yamaha bahkan tercatat tidak pernah menjadi juara dalam 21 seri MotoGP terakhir setelah Rossi finis tercepat pada MotoGP Belanda yang berlangsung Juni 2017.
Rossi yang kini berada di peringkat kedua klasemen pebalap kian tertinggal dari Marc Marquez dan mulai didekati dua pebalap Ducati, Jorge Lorenzo dan Andrea Dovizioso.
Untuk menanggulangi masalah elektronik yang menghambat performa tim, Yamaha menggaet Gadda yang memiliki pengalaman bersama mantan manajer teknik Rossi, Silvano Galbusera.
Corsedimoto Gadda pernah menjadi sosok dibelakan tim Yamaha di kompetisi Superbike dan tim BMW bersama dengan Galbusera. Gadda juga pernah menjadi bagian tim Duacati di MotoGP.
Pada 2017 lulusan Milan Polytechnic itu kembali ke tim Superbike Yamaha membenahi motor YZF-R1 dan turut membantu tim garpu tala bersaing dengan tim Kawasaki dan Ducati.
Pada musim Superbike 2018, Yamaha merusak dominasi Kawasaki dengan menjadi juara tiga seri melalui Michael van der Mark (dua kali) dan Alex Lowes (satu kali).
Gadda digadang-gadang mampu membenahi masalah elektronik karena sudah berpengalaman dengan control unit keluaran Magneti Marelli yang digunakan juga di Superbike.
Alasan lain perekrutan Gadda oleh tim Movistar Yamaha adalah keinginan transfer ilmu antara balap motor MotoGP dan Superbike.
MotoGP Inggris yang akan berlangsung Minggu (26/8) akan menjadi kiprah pertama Gadda bersama Yamaha.
