Jalan Selama 15 Menit Setiap Hari Dorongan Perkembangan Ekonomi Global

BERITA RAKYAT – Perekonomian dunia bisa melejit sebesar AS$100 miliar per tahun jika pemberi kerja sukses mendorong karyawannya untuk memenuhi pedoman berolahraga dari Organisasi Kesehatan Dunia atau WHO, menurut analisis dampak ekonomi dari kegiatan olahraga.


Menambah waktu berjalan kaki sebanyak 15 menit atau jogging rutin satu kilometer setiap hari akan memperbaiki produktivitas dan memperpanjang usia harapan hidup.


Dan hal-hal itu akan meningkatkan pertumbuhan ekonomi, menurut kajian oleh perusahaan asuransi kesehatan Vitality dan think-tank RAND Europe seperti dilaporkan Reuters, Rabu (6 November).

Dikutip dari VOA Indonesia, Jumat (8/11/2019), dorongan untuk pertumbuhan ekonomi akan datang dari laju mortalitas yang lebih rendah. Atau dengan kata lain membuat lebih banyak orang bertahan hidup, bekerja dan berkontribusi untuk kegiatan ekonomi untuk waktu lebih lama, kata para pengarang studi tersebut. Dan para karyawan tidak sering cuti sakit.


Hans Pung, presiden RAND Europe, mengatakan studi itu menggarisbawahi “hubungan penting antara “tidak ada aktivitas dan hilangnya produktivitas.


Studi tersebut harusnya memberi para pembuat keputusan dan karyawan “perspektif mengenai bagaimana meningkatkan produktivitas masyarakat mereka.”


Saran dari WHO

WHO menyarankan semua orang dewasa melakukan setidaknya 150 menit olahraga dengan intensitas sedang atau 75 menit olahraga intensitas berat, setiap minggunya. Dalam studi tahun lalu, pihaknya menemukan sekitar 40 persen orang dewasa di AS, 36 persen di Inggris, dan 14 persen di China, sedikit sekali berolahraga untuk tetap sehat.


Kajian RAND/Vitality sebagian berdasarkan data dari sekitar 120 ribu orang di tujuh negara. Kemudian dibuat model dan diproyeksikan potensi keuntungan ekonomi dari peningkatan aktivitas secara global dan untuk 23 negara individu.


Studi mendapati jika semua orang dewasa yang berusia 18 dan 64 tahun berjalan 15 menit sehari, akan meningkatkan keluaran ekonomi dunia sebesar AS$100 miliar per tahun.


Studi juga mendapati orang berusia 40 tahun yang tidak melakukan aktivitas fisik bisa memperpanjang usia harapan hidup, rata-rata sebesar 3,2 tahun dengan jogging selama 20 menit setiap harinya. {le}
